If a student qualifies for reduce lunch it costs them 40¢ which is sadly an amount that some student still can’t afford. If you gave $20 today, you could provide up to 50 lunches for a student in need and with KV’s match that could be 100 lunches! Just $20 could help students get thru the rest of the school year. We will accept any donation amount—no amount is too small to make a difference.
Hunger is a huge issue in our local communities. Our surrounding schools (RSU 18, Waterville, and Augusta Public Schools) combined have over $135,000 in overdue student lunch account debt! Did you know that when a student gets into debt on their lunch account in Kindergarten it can follow them all the way to 12th grade? Then, depending on the school, they have to worry about not getting to participate in graduation celebrations. No child should have to worry about not eating and accruing debt on a daily basis.
